Legal aid is the provision of assistance to persons who cannot afford legal representation and access to the judicial system. Legal aid is considered essential to ensure access to justice by guaranteeing equality before the law, the right of access to a lawyer and the right to a fair trial. We, the Legal Support Centre, work together to make the law accessible to those who have least access to it, through education, law reform, research, litigation, legal advice, representation and advocacy, with the ultimate goal of creating and maintaining a culture of human rights in Namibia. Is legal aid a human right? Yes, under certain circumstances. The Legal Support Centre (LAC) has been publishing information for many years to help the public understand Namibia`s current law. IBC publishes three free legal databases to inform the legal profession and the public about current laws.
