The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) has reduced the minimum requirement for special consideration if a student has missed part of their AS, A Level or GCSE exams. Students may be given special attention if they have completed 25% of the overall assessment for the price of the subject. As of the June 2018 exam series, schools and colleges will no longer need to request electronic copies of our standard or large print questionnaires for students with special needs through the Centre`s administration portal. A PDF of the copy will be available for download one hour prior to the published start time of the Centre`s Services exam via Pre-exams > Exam Materials Examination officers must apply online via the Special Considerations section of the Centre`s Service. Select one of the following four options. In these cases, a grade is calculated for the missing unit, provided that the student has completed enough specifications to meet the minimum requirements set by JCQ – this is called a “Z-score”. The calculation of the missing mark takes into account the student`s performance in other comparable examination units and the national average for these units. The hypothesis is that the student will do just as well – not better, not worse – at work with the missing grade compared to his performance on the other tests compared to the national cohort. Applications will then be processed by our Special Consideration Team. Examiners can select “View Applications” in the centre`s services to see the result. An adjustment cannot be considered appropriate if it results in disproportionate costs and delays or if it compromises the security or integrity of the assessment. The Equality Act 2010 requires a contracting authority to make appropriate adjustments if a person with a disability would be significantly disadvantaged when carrying out an assessment. A wide range of arrangements are available – e.g. provision of a player, recorder, overtime, etc. An appropriate accommodation for a particular person may be unique to that person and not be included in the list of available access agreements. In these cases, a small percentage is added to the raw marking. This percentage shall be determined on the basis of guidelines agreed by all contracting entities and published by JCQ. Access agreements fall into two different categories: some agreements are delegated to centres, others require prior approval from the QCW registry. The YCQ Centre Administration Portal (CAP) allows centres to request access agreements and order amended documents online. The amended tests are prepared individually for candidates for whom other access rules are not suitable. We do not produce questionnaires in modified language. All our standard documents are checked for accessible language according to guidelines published by the British Association of Teachers of the Deaf (BATOD). Orders must be placed via the JCQ Access Arrangements Online (AAO) web tool, accessible through the JCQ Centre Administration Portal (CAP) via the WJEC secure website. This option is only available to the primary account holder of the Centre (usually the Review Officer). Special consideration may be given to admitted candidates who: Candidates whose performance on an exam is affected by circumstances beyond their control (illness, bereavement, etc.) may be entitled to special consideration. These procedures apply to all general qualification bodies. Special consideration is an adjustment to a candidate`s mark or score after the exam to reflect a temporary injury, illness or other discomfort at the time of the exam or assessment.
