The Professional Diploma in Legal and UN Translation pursues an interdisciplinary approach to translation, the certificate includes legal writing, a contrastive study of legal and UN discourse, translation of legal treaties and UN texts, as well as editing for international organizations such as the UN, IMF. This course is designed to provide a practical study of computer-assisted translation tools as a key tool for translators in today`s global context. This level provides learners with: A historical context of legal writing and its developments over time. This level also describes the main features of legal language and the mechanisms used to draft an appropriate legal sentence. This level also focuses on the basics of legal translation, including word selection, sentence structure and proper document organization. The Specialist Diploma in Audiovisual and Media Translation aims to equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary for a career in media and audiovisual translation. The Professional Diploma in Multimedia and Audiovisual Translation is awarded only after successful completion of the 12 PDUs of the Professional Diploma in Simultaneous Interpreting aims to develop learners` interpreting skills, including public speaking and conference interpreting. The professional degree is a solid training in United Nations translation techniques and strategies and legal texts. With an interdisciplinary translation approach, the certificate includes a contrastive study of legal and UN discourse, translation of UN legal texts as well as editing for international organisations such as the United Nations or the International Monetary Fund. 1- Basic Certificate in Translation and Interpreting** Admission Requirements The candidate must pass the standardized test of proficiency in English (SEVEN) and follow the ENGGB2A course. Candidates who pass ENGGB1C of SEPT or ENGGB1B must take English for Translators SLET 101 60 hours.

Candidates must pass the Arabic Language Proficiency Test (APT). Candidates who fail the APT must take the ARBF 101 course in Arabic grammar. Candidates must have basic computer skills. The Professional Diploma in Legal and UN Translation represents a solid background in techniques and strategies for translating legal and UN texts. The Specialist Diploma in Legal and UN Translation is awarded only after successful completion of the 12 PDUs of the Basic Certificate in Translation This level provides learners with: A wide range of legal terms used in different areas of law. Learners will be able to understand the exact meaning of each legal term and use it in the right place. Learners gain hands-on experience translating a variety of contracts, legal opinions, trial reports, correspondence and court documents into Arabic and English. This level applies the main features of legal language and the mechanism used to draft an appropriate legal sentence. Students are provided with basic legal terms and vocabulary. The course focuses on the fundamentals of legal transition, including word selection, sentence structure, and proper organization of materials. This course is designed for an overview of the lexicon, morphology, syntax and style of modern formal written conventions. Basic Certificate in Translation and Interpreting LEVEL OVERVIEW: Translation and revision from Arabic to English and vice versa:. An overview of the stylistic capabilities of the Arabic language required for professional translators and editors; identification of frequent errors in composition that cause ambiguity in meaning; Produce texts that are stylistically acceptable according to the standards supported by the editors of Egyptian cultural journals.
