Although Tennessee allows suspension lifts, body stops, spare wheels, tires, and bumpers, there are restrictions on the height of the frame and bumper. Cars and SUVs have a maximum frame height of 22″, trucks under 4,501 GVWR must not exceed 24″ frame height, GVWR from 4,501 to 7,500 have a maximum frame height of 26 inches, and vehicles with a GVWR of 7,501 to 10.00 have a maximum frame height of 28″. In addition to these height restrictions, the vehicle`s 4×4 bumpers must not be less than 14″ above the road and no more than 31″ passenger cars must not have bumpers of 22″ or less. Utah residents are allowed to install suspended elevators and other replacement parts, but must abide by frame height restrictions. Frame height restrictions are regulated by the GVWR, vehicles under 4,500 cannot exceed 24″, 4,501 to 7,499, have a maximum of 26″ and 7,500 and above are limited to 28″. There are currently no height restrictions for vehicle chassis in Massachusetts.
So far, there are no laws limiting suspension modifications, but there is a pending law that will limit the height of the frame to 23″ and the bodylift to 5″. Vehicle elevators in Nevada are regulated based on vehicle height. The bodywork must be less than or equal to 28″ for a total weight of less than 4,501, 30″ for a total weight between 4,501 and 7,500 and 32″ for vehicles with a total weight between 7,501 and 10,000. As long as a vehicle maintains these body heights, suspension elevators as well as aftermarket tires, wheels and bumpers are allowed. Suspension lift kits are allowed in the state of Minnesota as long as bumper height laws are followed.
The bumper must be less than 6 inches from the height of a vehicle`s bumper. For 4×4 vehicles, a bumper must not exceed 25 inches and must be at least 4.5 inches and 10 inches taller than any chassis rail. Other spare parts are allowed. In general, vehicles under 10,000 GVWR in Massachusetts have a suspension limit of 2 inches. In California, body lifts are limited to a maximum of 5 inches. Suspended elevators are also limited by state frame height laws. Arkansas residents can install suspension platforms, spare wheels and tires, spare bumpers, and grille protection. There are no laws regarding frame height, bodylift height or bumper height. Oklahoma has no limits on suspension or body lifts, hump heights or frame heights. Residents are allowed to install elevators, spare wheels, tires, bumpers and shock absorbers. Montana allows residents to install suspension lift kits and spare tires, wheels and bumpers with no height limit. They are one of the least restrictive states when it comes to vehicle modifications. In Virginia, suspension lift kits are limited by hump height restrictions based on the vehicle`s GVWR. The maximum bumper for vehicles under 4,501 GVWR is 28 inches at the front and rear, for 4,501 to 7,500, the front axle is limited to 29 inches and the rear to 30 inches and from 7,501 to 15,000, the maximum front height is 30 inches and the rear is 31 inches. Aftermarket bumpers, grille protection, shock absorbers, wheels and tires are allowed. Michigan has many laws regarding vehicle suspension modifications. Chassis height for vehicles up to 7,500 GVWR is limited to 24 inches and 7,501 to 10,000 to 26 inches.
The bumper height for vehicles with a total weight of less than 4 501 shall not exceed 26 “, vehicles with a total weight between 4 501 and 7 500 28″ and between 7 501 and 10 000 shall not exceed 30″. In addition, lifting blocks cannot be used on front springs and rear blocks are limited to 4 inches. Other modifications such as bumpers, grille protection, shock absorbers, tires and wheels are allowed. Maryland has state laws that limit the height of vehicles. The chassis and bumper of cars and SUVs must not exceed 20″ and trucks are limited to 28″. Other modifications such as tires, wheels, bumpers and shock absorbers are allowed. In Rhode Island, there are no limits on frame height, bumper height, or body lifts, but the suspension cannot be raised by more than 4.” Other spare parts such as bumpers, wheels, tires and shock absorbers are allowed. In North Carolina, there are no restrictions on vehicle suspension. Suspension and facelifts are allowed and there are no laws limiting the height of the frame or bumper. Other spare parts are also allowed. Ohio has no laws on frame suspension or height. However, there are restrictions on the height of the bumper depending on the gross weight of the vehicle.
Cars and SUVs must not have a bumper height greater than 22″ at the front or rear, trucks under 4500 GVWR are limited to 24″ at the front and 36″ at the rear, for vehicles between 4501 and 7500 GVWR, the maximum bumper height for the front is 27″ and the rear is 29″ and vehicles from 7501 to 10000 cannot have a higher bumper at 28″ at the front and 31″ at the rear.
