Contact these programs for more information on eligibility. If you are eligible for legal assistance, you can expect to be contacted by a lawyer within 5 to 10 business days of the conversation with the admissions specialist. Through Lone Star Legal Aid and the Texas Legal Services Center`s Veterans Legal Assistance Project, free legal aid is available for qualified veterans in Texas. The Houston metropolitan area is home to the second largest veteran population in the country and the largest in Texas. Our Military and Veterans Unit (MVU) provides free civilian services to low-income U.S. veterans, their dependents, and surviving spouses throughout the state of Texas.

The Texas Veterans Legal Assistance Project is a national project dedicated to providing free legal aid to low-income veterans, their spouses, loved ones, and surviving spouses of deceased veterans. TRLA`s lawyers on our Veteran Advocacy Project help low-income veterans access the benefits they deserve and help them resolve many other legal and administrative issues. For more information about our services and eligibility criteria, Veterans and their families can call our Veterans Legal Aid Hotlines (above) during business hours, Monday to Friday. Callers must identify themselves as veterans or as spouses or relatives of veterans and leave a message with a phone number. We will be happy to call you back. Texas Civil Rights Project Veteran Services Texas Civil Rights Project`s Veteran Services provides civil rights legal assistance to low-income veterans in Texas. We provide support for civil rights (freedom of expression, equal protection), social housing, disability rights, access to public records, release upgrades, denial of benefits to veterans due to release, and many other veterans` rights issues.
